The pictures illustrate the way in which a town called Felixstone changed for urban development purposes between 1967 and 2001.
Looking at the illustration, it is immediately evident that while some old features remained unchanged, others, such as the farmland and fish market, had disappeared. Additionally, over the span of 34 years, the town of Felixstone underwent dramatic transformations, with several major changes in recreational and residential infrastructure.
By 2001, some original facilities such as the golf course, hotel near the dune, and café were still in place, as were several shop buildings along the High Street. However, the farmland on the right-hand side was completely removed and replaced with new facilities including a hotel, tennis court, swimming pool, and apartment buildings. Likewise, the fish market was no longer present and had been substituted by a private beach.
By that year, changes had also been made to other features, the most noticeable of which was the removal of the marina pier. In its place, a public beach and a car park were developed to accommodate both local and tourist activities. Additionally, a row of wind turbines was installed along the seafront west of the town, indicating a shift towards renewable energy sources.ư
