The maps illustrate the changes in Felixstone, UK, between 1967 and 2001.
Overall, there were significant changes in this place, especially the addition of recreational areas and the removal of agricultural land.
As can be seen in the maps, there was a golf course in the northwest, which remained constant in the 2001 plan. To the east of the golfing facility, there were two rows of shops along the street. After 30 years, one remained unchanged, while the other was converted into blocks of apartments. In 1967, there was farmland in the northeast of the map, which was then flattened to make way for recreational purposes, including a swimming pool, a hotel, and two tennis courts in 2001.
Another striking change was seen in the remaining parts—the dunes and the green areas to the southwest of the picture, which remained the same, with the addition of wind turbines to generate electricity to the south of the sea. Furthermore, the area for the hotel and the cafe stayed unchanged, with the construction of a new car park by the sea. A public beach was introduced in the 2001 plan to attract tourists, as it was not present in the 1967 map. In 1967, the fish market, which was located to the southeast of the map, was pulled down to make space for a private beach in 2001.
