The diagram below illustrates the layout of the library in 2004 and in 2014.
The 2004 floor plan showed the lack of open-space due to partitions created by bookshelves, which were located differently. For instance, the area between computers and fiction books was more limited. Similarly, the walkway between the issue desk and study section was narrow.
Conversely, the 2014 plan demonstrates a more convenient layout with considerable modifications. For example, the number of computers significantly increased, as a result an old computer corner was extended and a new one occurred right in the children zone. Additionally, the issue desk and CDs table were replaced with SSIM, which optimized the layout. Furthermore, a quiet room appeared on the place where the enquiry desk was. Fiction books were sorted as fiction romances and fiction thrillers and relocated near the computer’s location. Consequently, seats were transformed into sofas and transferred between computers and bookshelves. Finally, the entrance was extended and improved for disabled individuals.
Overall, 2014 demonstrated many changes in comparison with the 2004 library plan. It made an open-space configuration with an automated book borrowing system, an increased number of computers and a quiet place.
