In this diagram we see the life cycle of the silkworm and the stages in the production of silk cloth.
The first step is when moth is laying eggs. After 10 days the silkworm larvas are born. They are having a mulberry leaf as food. After 4-6 weeks of living they start to build up a cocoon out of silk thread. Then, when 3-8 days past we get a ready cocoon. That is what we need. But, if we will wait for another 16 days there would be born a moth. The whole cycle would be repeated.
Production of silk cloth is started with boiling cocoon in the water. After the boiling we get a thread about 300-900 long with unwinding the cocoon. With a twisted thread we got we can start weaving a material. The last but not least is dyeing the fabric, and we are having ready silk cloth.
