The diagrams demonstrate the main causes and working hours of males and females who worked from home in 2019. Overall, it is clear that most males and females worked from home to save money, while the least number of males and females chose to work from home for easier childcare and being more productive, respectively. Of the working hours per week for both genders featured, it is most common for females to work under 10 hours and for males to work over 30 hours.
From the bar chart, a total of 45% of males and 42% of females favored working from home for savings, which is the top reason among all. However, a difference in their opinions occurs at the reasons of being more productive and easier childcare. 24% of males prefer to work from home due to increased productivity while only 11% of females favor this reason. In contrast, there are 26% of females who work from home due to easier childcare while males contribute the lowest percentage of all reasons, which is 4%.
As for the hours worked from home, a higher percentage of males worked from home for longer hours, such as 81% of them working over 30 hours, whereas only 3% of males worked under 10 hours. On the other hand, 74% of females worked under 10 hours and only 6% of them work over 30 hours. Males and females demonstrate opposite trends in terms of hours worked from home.
