The two maps show the changes that took place on the ground floor of a university department between 1980 and 2010.
Overall, it is clear that the department became much bigger over this period. The trees and plants that were there in 1980 were removed, and new facilities such as a car park and an IT centre were added.
In 1980, the building had three sections, which were S1, S2 and S3. There was a library and an office in the middle of the building, next to the main entrance. The main entrance led to a road in the south. On the east side of the building, there was a large green area with many trees and plants.
By 2010, the green area had disappeared. Two new sections, S4 and S5, were built at the top of the building, so there were five sections in total. The office stayed near the main entrance, but the library was moved to a new building on the east side. Next to the library, a new IT centre was built. A car park was also added in the south-east, where the trees used to be.
