The given diagrams illustrate the way the water supply system currently works in Australia and the plan of the system in the future. Overall, the main change of this future plan is making the structure become more environmentally friendly by the recycling of water methods.
Regarding the present, the pure water is collected from a dam, and then it is allocated to the consumers such as households, shops, factories, and cities. Before being discharged to the river, waste water is filtered through the water treatment plant. Meanwhile, the water, which is reserved after the rain, is released directly into the river without purification. Therefore, the river is compiled from two different sources.
Moving to the future strategy, the dam will still be the main water supply. The pure water after being utilized will go to the water treatment plant. Instead of directing the storm water directly to the river as it used to do, it will be transported with waste water to the plant to be filtered. Finally, all the water from the plant will be refined and will flow back to the city facilities. In comparison, the new system will be more modern and easy to avoid the water pollution.
