The diagrams illustrate the changes made in the system of water supply in Australia from the present to the future.

Overall, there are three types of water in the system, which are: pure, storm and waste water. Presently, the water treatment plant receives waste water from the settlement area, which includes households, factories, shops and the city. The storm water from this area flows directly to the river. The treatment plant sends wastewater to the river as well. This water flow to the river mainly gets disconnected in the future, and both the, storm and waste water is directed towards the water treatment plant from the settlement zone.

At present, pure water flows from the dam to the settlement. In turn, the waste water gets sent for treatment, after which, it flows to the river. In contrast, storm water from the residing place flows directly to the river.

In the future, pure water will be received by people from the dam, while the waste and storm water is going to be directed towards the water treatment plant. Pure water from the treatment plant will be sent to people for reuse. No water from the plant and settlement will flow to the river.
