The bar charts compare male and female involvement in four types of household tasks at home and the time spent every day on each in a particular country.
Overall, females are more involved in cooking and cleaning, while this trend is reversed in house repairs. Notably, both genders take care of their pets in almost equal percentages and spend the same amount of time each day.
Regarding household tasks, slightly above 80% of women cook, spending the longest time overall (more than 80 minutes), while 60% of men prepare dishes, allocating an hour per day. However, males are more active when it comes to house repairs, just under 20% of men engage in this activity, compared with only 8% of women. The time spent on this activity shows a clear difference, just below 20 minutes and roughly 5 minutes respectively.
Women spend over an hour on cleaning, compared to 50 minutes for men. In terms of participation, 50% of men take part in cleaning compared to nearly 70% of women. By contrast, pet care is a relatively uncommon activity, with around one-fifth of both males and females engaged in it and both genders dedicating an equal amount of time daily.
