The charts illustrate the percentage of men and women in a country involved in different household tasks (cooking, cleaning, pet care, and house repairs) and the average time each gender spends on these activities per day.
Overall, women are more involved in cooking and cleaning, while men are more engaged in pet care and house repairs. In terms of time spent, women also tend to spend more time on cooking and cleaning, whereas men allocate slightly more time to pet care and significantly more to house repairs.
In detail, around 80% of women are involved in cooking compared to just under 60% of men. Similarly, about 60% of women participate in cleaning, whereas only about 40% of men do the same. For pet care, men’s participation rate is slightly higher, at around 20%, compared to women’s 15%. Notably, nearly 20% of men handle house repairs, but only a small fraction of women engage in this task.
Regarding time spent on each task, women spend an average of 80 minutes on cooking daily, almost double the 60 minutes spent by men. In cleaning, women spend approximately 70 minutes, compared to men’s 45 minutes. Both genders spend roughly the same amount of time on pet care, at about 20 minutes. However, men spend significantly more time on house repairs, averaging 20 minutes per day, while women spend only around 5 minutes.
In summary, women are more likely to participate in and dedicate more time to cooking and cleaning, while men are more involved in house repairs and, to a lesser extent, pet care.
