The bar charts compare the percentages of men and women who perform four household chores and the average time they spend on these activities.
Overall, cooking and cleaning recorded considerably higher figures than pet care and house repairs in terms of both participation rates and time spent. Cooking was the most common activity among both genders and also accounted for the greatest amount of time. In general, women were more likely than men to carry out household chores and spent longer doing them.
Focusing on the proportions of males and females who performed household chores, cooking topped the list, at 60% for men and approximately 82% for women. This was followed by cleaning, which accounted for 40% and around 62% respectively. Pet care ranked third, with about 22% of males and 20% of females engaging in this activity. House repairs lagged far behind the other categories, standing at roughly 18% for men and just 8% for women.
Turning to the average time spent on housework, a similar pattern can be observed. Cooking again headed the list, with men and women spending 60 and approximately 82 minutes respectively. The figures for cleaning were somewhat lower, at 45 minutes for males and 67 minutes for females. By contrast, pet care and house repairs were the least time-consuming activities, with neither exceeding 20 minutes on average for either gender.
