The flow diagram illustrates the different steps involved in writing a formal academic essay for a particular university course. Overall, it is a linear process consisting of six distinct stages, starting with discussing tasks and the topic with a tutor and ending with submitting by the deadline. It is a manual process.
Initially, the topic and task for the essay are discussed with the tutor. As per the tutor’s suggestion, preparing a reading list includes books and articles. The next stage is research; for research, they choose the library and fieldwork. The library is helpful for reading literature and making notes. Through fieldwork, they plan questionnaires, conduct interviews, and run surveys. After these two stages, they prepare a first draft, which is the third stage. It includes planning how to organize content and produce an outline, as well as checking language and writing style.
Probing further, the third stage is second private tutorial or study group discussion which contain two steps – Analysis and Advice. Analysis means discussing the problem areas in first draft and giving proper ideas and suggestion in Advice step. After clearing the problems in first draft, the process advances to the fifth stage whear a second draft is produced. This steps require reading resource material again, and reviewing the draft, which includes the suggestions and quotations for appropriate academic essay writing. Once the second draft completed, the process going to final stage, which produce final draft. This stage require a final rewrite and spelling check, and adding bibliography and title page, ending with submit by deadline.
