The graph illustrates the weight profile of the residents of Charlestown in the year 1955 and 2015.
Overall there is an increase in the number of obese people in 2015. Over the period of sixty years the people with obesity have increased in all age groups. In 2015, the number of people having perfect body weight have declined as the age increases.
In 1955, only 2% of old age people are obese and 40% of people are either underweight or have ideal weight. Whereas, in 2015, there is a drastic increase of approximately 60% of old age people who are suffering from obesity.
In 1955, the ratio of people having ideal weight is far greater than obesity, overweight or underweight. More than half of the people of all age groups have the perfect weight. However, same trend is not followed after 60 years. As the age increases the number of obese people exceeds the people having ideal weight. From age 20 to 29 till age 60 to 69 there is a 65% decrease in people having ideal weight.
The people of 1955 are more fit than people of 2015.
