The bar chart illustrates the proportion of leisure time preferences of Canadian adolescent girls and boys across four categories: sports, computer games, music and shopping.
Overall, it is evident that the percentages of almost all leisure activities were higher for boys, with shopping showing the most pronounced difference. Music, however, recorded identical figures for both genders, while boys demonstrated nearly twofold higher participation in sports.
Starting at 36 percent, shopping dominates as the most popular activity overall among boys, while only a small proportion (7 percent) of girls were interested in shopping. In addition, percentages for boys were nearly doubled, with higher participation in sports activities, precisely 27 percent for boys and 12 percent for girls.
Regarding music, it showed identical figures among boys and girls and accounted for 19 percent. Computer games showed similar figures for both genders standing at 18 percent for boys and 16 percent for girls.
