The data used to construct the chart is referenced from the United Nations Food Agriculture Organization, and the graph clearly demonstrates that the continent of Africa’s estimated food production need in 2045 would far surpass that of all other continents.
To draw deductions from the bar graph, where all numbers are estimations for the year of 2045, the most salient observation is that Africa’s need of nearly 400 million MT food is nearly eight times that of South America – the continent with the second highest predicted demand for food – and the summation of demand from all other continents, except Africa, still falls short when compared with Africa’s need.
The predicted demand for food in Europe is by far the lowest, and North America’s food demand in 2045 happens to be the second lowest. Asia is the third lowest at nearly 30 million MT, although not by much when compared to South America’s 50 million MT predicted need. It is important to note that five continents are mentioned in the graph, and Africa visually stands out the most.
