The charts illustrate the number of students at a university in the UK from 1991 to 2001, as well as the types of family economic backgrounds from which these students came in 1991.
During this period, students from middle-income families accounted for the highest percentage of enrollment, and the total number of students at the university steadily increased.
The middle-income group represented the largest proportion at 62 percent, followed by high-income families at 30 percent and low-income families at 8 percent.
The total number of students at the university gradually rose from approximately 1.1 million in 1991 to around 2.1 million in 1999. However, there was a slight decline to 2.0 million students by 2001.
