Overall, all of the five continents’ fishers increased. Among these, Asia grew sharply, leading dominant category, which was the reverse was true for Europe. However, the number of fishers in the remaining three regions – Africa, South America, and North America.
Generally speaking, the figure for Asia was relatively higher than other regions. In 1980, it was approximately 9, while in 1990, the total number of fishers slightly increased to about 13. In 2000, however, the figure for Asian fishers rose rapidly to around 23.
The remaining 3 continents – Africa, South America, and North America – were similar with the total number of 3 in all three years. Nevertheless, in Europe, the quantity of fishers were extremally less – about 1 or 2, with a dip in 1990.
