Overall, while most flavours experienced an upward trend, cherry continuously fluctuated and plum declined dramatically over the five-year period. Moreover, strawberry had the highest figure and maintained as the dominant flavour throughout the given period.
Looking first at plum which was the only flavour experiencing a downward trend, in 2009, it stood at the third place with approximately 2.5 million units. However, it dropped right after. In 2011, it was overtaken by cherry and by grape in 2012, whereas plum already stood at the last place with 1.5 million and hit the bottom at 0 million in 2014. Meanwhile, cherry also fluctuated drastically, in 2009 it stood at 1.7 million units. Then it overtook plum and reached 2.7 million in 2011. But, in 2012, cherry dropped to 2 million and was surpassed by grape. Finally the sales of cherry reached a peak of about 2.9 million in 2013 and slightly decreased to 2.5 million in 2014.
Turning to the group with an upward trend, in 2009, strawberry was the dominant figure with 3.5 million units, whereas grape was the lowest figure with only 1 million. Grape then rose significantly from the bottom position, outperformed plum and cherry and stood at the third place with 4.2 million units in 2014. In addition, strawberry remained as the best-selling flavour with 6.5 million and raspberry stood at the second place throughout the period.
