The line graph illustrates the ratio of the populations of four Asian countries living in cities from 1970 to 2020, with guesses for 2030 and 2040. Looking from an overall perspective, all shown countries have witnessed a considerable increase and will keep growing until 2040. Figures for Three out of four countries demonstrated similar patterns till 2020. In contrast, percentage for Philippines experienced a different trend between 1970 and 2020.
Getting into the details, the percentage of citizens in Malaysia started at exactly 30% and jumped to over 72% in five decades and it is possible that this ratio will keep climbing up to around 85% in next 20 years. Figure for Indonesia was approximately 12% before escalating to 50% and probably it will increase to 60% in next two decade. 19% of Thailand population has been living in cities in 1970. However in upcoming twenty years the number climbed to around 28% and remained the relative numbers until 2020. But, the guesses show that the figure will witness a moderate increase
On the flip side, in 1970, 31% of Philippines have been living in urban areas and it remained the same in next years before experiencing a climb to 50%. Subsequently, the ratio plunged to around 40 % in 2010 and then increased to approximately 43%. This inline can rise to below 60% in next years
