The given line graph illustrates the energy consumption, by six different categories, of Australia from 1980 and with predictions until 2030.
Overall, all figures are expected to show upward trends over a period. At the beginning, the oil’s figure was the highest, whereas solar and nuclear energy sources were less used.
Moving to a more detailed analysis, in 1980, the oil’s figure stood at approximately 35 billion, while the levels of solar and nuclear powers were the same, at just under 5 million. Moreover, the oil consumption faced a slight decrease roughly by one-seventh of the initial level in 1990, but this was followed by a steady increase until 2020. It is expected that this figure will rise toward the end of 2030. Meanwhile, the figures for nuclear and solar consumptions are forecast to increase slightly to 6 and 8 billion, respectively.
In terms of coal and natural gas, the coal usage was less than that of natural gas for around 3 billion. While the coal’s figure grew steadily until 2010, the natural gas usage faced small fluctuations. However, the usage of coal surpassed that of natural gas in 2000, and it is predicted to continue toward the end of the period.
