The graph illustrates the number of people taking part in four different kinds of sports in a particular region over a two-decade period from 1985 to 2005.
Overall, it is clear that the figures for badminton and basketball remained stable over the years, whereas the numbers of tennis participants increased significantly as opposed to that of rugby, which experienced an ever-declining trend during the period.
Looking at the graph in more detail, initially, the number of tennis players started at 150 in 1985, grew steadily until 1995 where it surpassed that of rugby enthusiasts, eventually peaking at 230 in 2005. Regarding this, the figure for rugby began collapsing in the beginning with 240, making it having the all time highest number of participants in the region. After that, constantly falling figure of rugby hit the bottom in the end.
Looking at the other sports, there is not much to say about them. The number of basketball fans were around 70 in 1985 – a figure that then remained fairly stable after that. A similar pattern happened in the case of badminton, having 50 participants during two decades.
