The graphs illustrate four type of citrus fruits and their top three export destinations in 2012.
Overall, South Africa was a leading exporter of oranges, whereas Mexico and Turkey topped the list of exporting countries for lemons and grapefruits, respectively. It is also noteworthy that, although United States exported all types of fruits, it ranked for the most part last and once second among its rivals.
Looking first at orange exports, South Africa recorded the highest figures with export volume of 1000. South Africa was distantly followed by Egypt, which exported 500 tons of orange in 2012, and by the US, with its exportation figure of approximately 400 tons of the same product.
Regarding the exporters of lemons and other fruits, Mexico dominated with the same level of exportation at around 500 tons in each product. Mexico outstripped US and Argentina in exporting lemons, and Egypt and US in other kinds of fruits.
In the export of grapefruits, however, Turkey ranked the largest exporter with export rate of 400 tons. This was twice the figure for US. Mexico recorded 300 tons of grapefruit in 2012.
