It is evident that generally, the prices of world food and oil witnessed an upward trend over period of 11 years. Futhermore, the trends for both commodities were vey similar.
By the beginning of 2007, the foof price index started at around 90 points, while the average oil price was close to 25$ per barrel. In the next 4 years, both prices of world food and oil remained relatively stable, before rising stedly into 140 points of food prices index and $60 per barrel of oil prices by 2007.
A dramatic increasing in both commodities prices was reported in 2008 when the avarage oil prices reached a peak at arround 135$ and food prices had risen by 80 points. However, in 2009, it can be seen the significant decline of the figure for prices of both world food and oil prices, at 140 points and 40$, respectively.
