The chart illustrates how prevalent types of activity were among children of both sexes in Australia in the year of 2012.
Overall, the vast majority of girls interested in Art and Craft, whereas that of boys preferred Sports, with the figure for girls exceeding the corresponding figure of the opposite gender, proportionally. It is also reported that the gap between the rate of the participants in Computer Games was the smallest.
Looking first at the shares of Sports and Going to the park, which were the favourite leisure activities among surveyed Australian boys, the former accounted for about 28%, 16% higher than the corresponding figure for girls, at 12%. The disparity between two genders in the activity of Going to the park narrowed, with the girls comprising 12% as opposed to the boys comprising 25%. These information showed that boys enjoyed taking part in physical activities compared to girls.
Turning to the remaining, The gap between two sexes in the number of participants was the largest, with the number of female participants (20%) being more than four times as high as that of male counterparts (5%). In terms of DVDs, girls watching them constituted approximately 17% of the total, exceeding boys doing that by 2%. A similar pattern could be observed in the number of boys and girls reading books, with nearly 18% of girls and 10% of boys. Lastly, Computer Games was a different situation, with the number of boys joining this activity being equal to that of women, at 15%.
