The line chart illustrates five different reasons for travel of US residents and the bar chart demonstrates the main issues for the traveling public in 2009.
Overall, working topped the reasons for travel, while the opposite was true for visiting friends or relatives. Meanwhile, citizens paid attention to price of travel when travelling.
Looking first at the line chart, the most significant percentage was 49% recorded in working, followed by personal reasons and shopping, whose figure was lower than one mentioned earlier and stood at 19% and 16%, respectively. Additionally, social or recreation was higher than visit friends or relatives, with the former at 10% and the latter at 6%.
Turning to the bar chart, 36% was the data of price of travel, standing at first rank. Furthermore, safety concerns made approximately up one-fifth of the total, while aggressive drivers was lower, at 17%. Main issues for travelling public were highway congestion, access to public transport or space for pedetrians, with the figure being 14%, 8% and 6%, respectively.
