The line graph gives the information about how much cheese per person consumed on average in kilograms (kg) in four different countries England, Scotland, Wales, and Northern Ireland from 1980 to 2020.
Overall, the average cheese consumption in Wales and Northern Ireland experienced an upward trend, showing consistently growth over the period. Additionally, England and Scotland exhibited a decrease, with the notable exception of Scotland, which showed a significant increase in the first period.
In 1980, the amount of average cheese consumption was approximately 85 kg in Scotland, which rose sharply to peak at just over 100 kg in 1990. After that, it experienced a steady decline, reaching approximately below 75 kg in the following decade. Then, the figure decreased gradually, with closing the timeframe at around 54 kg in 2020. England, on the other hand, saw a gradual decline on the average cheese consumption form nearly 110 kg to around 88 kg throughout the period.
By contrast, Wales and Northern Ireland both showed a similar trajectory, showing a gradual increase. Northern Ireland began with the lowest figure (around 12 kg), increased consistently to over 25 kg in 2020, but then experienced a significant growth, culminating at around 52 kg in 2010. After a significant increase, it rose slightly to approximately 53 kg in the last decade. Wales displayed a significant increase from below 50 kg and to nearly 65 kg in the first period. This trend climbed gradually to just over 75 kg until it remained in this level in 2020
