Overall, the price of nickel changed significantly over the period, whereas the value of copper remained relatively stable. Additionally, zince’s value saw a noticeable decrease after an initial rise.
In January, nickle had the highest value across all metals, starting at its peak with nearly 6%. Meanwhile, copper and zinc each started at 2% and 1%, respectively. In the following month both nickle and zinc’s figures declined, while zinc reached its peak at 3%. All figures showed similar downward trends till they reach their lowest amount in June, with nickel as the lowest at -3%, followed by zinc at -1%, and copper at just below zero.
In the second half of the year, all metals regained their amount of price change. From July to September, figures experienced steady trends with copper remaining at 1%, and zinc and nickel at -0.5% and -1%, respectively. After a slight decrease in October, all types of metals increased considerably to reach an average of 1% and 2% at the end of the 2014, with zinc as the highest value and nickel as the lowest.
