This line graph depicts the average time taken to produce cars by four car manufacturers from 1998 to 2005. Overall, the time taken for car manufacturing by two companies has gradually decreased over the time period of the study, except with the Toyota and Honda companies, which remained constant. The most notable is with General Motors production, where there is a steep decline in the average time taken for car manufacturing over this time period.
In 2005, the manufacturing process was the fastest in Toyota and Honda manufacturers, with an average time reported between 20 and 25 hours for both. Further, the average time for car production in Toyota and Ford companies in 1998 and 2005 was approximately the same, which was around 20 hours. Toyota and Honda also had an equal average time in production in the year 2002, which is nearly 25 hours.
Over the 8 years, Ford had a gradual rise in the average manufacturing time and had its peak in 2001, followed by a gradual decline by 2005. Finally, to conclude, General Motors and Ford had improved in car manufacturing, minimising the average time for car production over the 8 years.
