The graph depicts the number of average hours which are used to manufacture cars in the US by four different brands including General Motor, Ford, Toyota, Honda over an eight-year period from 1998 to 2005.
Overall, the average time spent by four manufacturers to produce cars witnessed a downward trend over the period in question, with Toyota and Honda experiencing the smallest decrease.
Focusing on General Motor and Ford, although the former was originally at around 32 hours per vehicle, the latter started at a lower point (28 hours). Nonetheless, both figures plummeted strikingly to about 22 hours by the end of the period.
Regarding the other two brands, Toyota and Honda showed similar patterns as there were a slight drop of roughly 10%. Their data were both at approximately 22 hours at the beginning before falling to about 20 hours in 2005. In addition, Honda’s figure remained the smallest throughout the measured period.
