Overall, agriculture and manufacturing’s contribution have decreased over the period. While business and financial services showed a significant rise in the UK economy.
The percentage of Agriculture was just under 50% in 1900 and it rose to about 53% in 1950. Then it dropped dramatically to 10% in 1975 and reached about 3% at the end of the period. The contribution of Manufacturing services in 1900 was approximately 45% and it fell slightly to just under 40% in 1950 and about 34% in 1975. In 2000 it declined sharply to around 15%. Meanwhile the percentage of Business and Financial services started at approximately 4% in 1900 and increased steadily. In 1950 it climbed to 10% and continued to rise in 1975 and reached just under 20%. At the end of the entire period the proportion increased to over 30%
