The given bar chart demonstrates the average number of hours teacher in four countries spent in lecturing per year in 2001. Overall, it is clear that Upper Secondary category was the dominant option for teachers in all four countries, namely Japan, Spain, Iceland and the USA. In the USA, the hours of teaching in three educational levels witnessed the highest among other countries.
Concerning Primary category, the number of hours of teaching was approximately 600 in Japan, this figure was similar to Spain and Iceland which was around that hours. Notably, it went up by roughly 280 hours in the USA. Lower Secondary, which hovered around 600 hours in Spain and Japan ( similar to Primary) but was higher in Iceland, at 800 hours spent. Finally, Lower Secondary in the USA accounted for nearly 1100 hours, reaching its highest point.
With regard to Upper Secondary category, the number of hours of teaching in the USA peaked at roughly 1100 hours, over the Lower Secondary one and was the highest in the chart. In Spain, this figure was nearly 1000 hours but declined to 800 and 600 hours in Iceland and Japan respectively
