The line graph shows how much money four organisations (A, B, C and D) gave to developing countries between 2008 and 2011, in billions of dollars.
Overall, Organisation B saw the biggest rise and became by far the largest donor by the end of the period. Organisations A and C ended the period giving slightly more than or the same as in 2008. Organisation D contributed the least and its aid declined overall.
In 2008, B and C each provided 1.5 billion dollars, the highest figures that year. B’s contribution stayed the same in 2009 and then rose sharply to 2.5 billion in 2010 and 3 billion in 2011, double its starting level. C’s donations were less steady. They rose to 1.7 billion in 2009, fell to 1.2 billion in 2010 and returned to 1.5 billion in 2011.
The other two organisations gave much less. A’s aid grew steadily from 0.5 billion in 2008 to 0.8 billion in 2009, stayed at that level in 2010 and reached 1 billion in 2011. D started slightly above A at 0.6 billion but fell to 0.3 billion in 2009. It recovered briefly to 0.5 billion in 2010 and then dropped to just 0.2 billion in 2011, the lowest figure on the graph.
