The line graph shows amount of people in certain region participating in four types of sport in a twenty-year period from 1985 to 2005. Overall, people who took part in tennis and rugby showed consistently higher figures throughout the period, albeit at varying rates. In addition, figures for basketball and badminton experienced minimal changes.
Focusing on the growth first, people who joined rugby started at approximately 240 people in 1985. In 1990, the figure then saw gradual decreases until 2000, after which it fell dramatically to 50 people, despite being dominant at the beginning. Those who engaged in playing tennis, however, experienced steady growth every year, reaching its’ peak at about 230 people in 2005.
Basketball and badminton players, however, bucked the trend, by following almost a similar pattern, despite at different rates. People who joined in basketball remained stable between 1985 and 1990, before rising minimally in 1995 and stay stable until 2000. In 2005, the figure than recovered to its’ initial figure. Badminton, on the other hand, dropped from around 55 to 50 people in 1990, after which it saw a period of stability till 2005.
