The line chart depicts exports from Australia to four developed countries: Japan, the US, China, and India, between 1992 and 2012.
Overall, the percentage of Chinese and Indian imports from Australia witnessed an upward trend, while the opposite was true for the others. Additionally, the lowest figure was recorded in India.
In detail, the proportion of Australian exports to China increased gradually from only 2% at the start to 5% in 2000. It continued to rise steeply to 25% in 2010, overtaking the figures of the US in around 2003 and Japan in 2008, and reaching over 27% in the last given year. In terms of India, their figure stabilized at only 1% until 2000. It rose slightly by nearly 6% in the next decade, but then dropped to a minor percentage in 2012, which was the lowest at that time.
Similarly, the number of Japanese imports from Australia also declined slowly over the given period and reached about 17% at the end. On the other hand, after undergoing a considerable fluctuation between 5% and 13% from 1990 to 2010, there was a minor surge to 7% in the percentage of Australian exports to the US.
