A glance at the line graph provided reveals the data of five different kinds of technology installed in households in the UK over the period between 1997 and 2001.
Overall, the graph illustrates a striking figure that all kinds of technology witnessed upward trends. In addition, the percentage of users of the CD player was by far the most remarkable data, in contrast to the data of the DVD player.
Looking at the line of CD player, beginning at the highest proportion with 60%, the percentage of people using CD player increased steadily and reached 80% at the end of the period. A similar trend was recorded by the figure of computer users which initially accounted for 40% of households before a gradual rise to 70% in 2001. Despite starting at 20% which was smaller than the figure of computer, the proportion of telephone installed in households surpassed the data of computer with approximately 75% at the end of the time frame.
In terms of the two remaining kinds of technology, the percentage of users of DVD player virtually doubled that of Internet. However, in the following year, the percentage of households using DVD player decreased slightly to nearly 15% before rising to 50% at the end of the period. An opposite trend was witnessed by the data of Internet user. In the remaining years, the figure of Internet went up 60%, surpassing the data of DVD player.
