The graph gives information about the proportion of tourists in a particular country who used different means of transport (including air, car, ferry, bus and coach) from 1989 to 2009.
Overall, it can be noted that usage of car and bus has declined over the years as opposed to other modes of trasport (ferry, airplane and coach) that became a common means of transport over the given period.
Bus was the most commonly used transport in 1989 and about 55% of tourists used bus for travelling, but its usage fell steadily over time up to 2009 when approximately 25% tourists used bus to travel. Car was used by around 25% of the tourists in 1989 and its usage increased until 2000 reaching a peak point of 60%, after that it saw a significant fall in usage and in 2009 only 40% of the tourists used car as means of transport.
Airplanes saw a tremendous rise as a transport utility, in 1989 there were about 25% tourists that used plane to travel, its usage expanded to about 65% in 2009 and it was the most common mode of transport in the same year. Coach and ferry also saw a rise in their customers and their proportion rose from around 5% and 10% in 1989 and reached to around 35% and 38% respectively.
