The line graph illustrates the proportion of gym attendees in various age brackets at least once per month in Europe between 1990 and 2010
Overall, all age groups witnessed an upward trend. Another prominent feature was that the 25-34-year-olds surpassed the 25-35 age cohort, making it dominated among all age groups from 1998 onwards, while the 45+ category consistently ranked the lowest over the period shown.
In terms of the two age groups attracting the most attendees, the share of people aged 25-34 started at around 9%, compared to 8% of the 18-24 age bracket. Those in the group of 18-24 overtook those in the group of 25-34, reaching its peak at approximately 60% in 2006 before falling to sound 50%, but it eventually grew back to nearly 59% in 2010. Although the cohort of 25-34-year-olds hit its lowest point of around 30% in 2004, the overall trend increased, at 40% in the final year.
Regarding two remaining age cohorts, people in the 25-44 category began at about 5%, relative to just approximately 4% of those aged 45+in the first period. After that, in 2010, both these figures experienced a steady growth to 30% and 20%, respectively.
