The line graph illustrates the previously recorded and the forecasted population (in billions) for both China and India over a time frame extending from the year 2000 to 2050. In general, at the beginning of the century, China’s population was 1.25 billion, exceeding its counterpart by 250 million. However, by 2030 it is expected that the number of India’s citizens will surpass that of China, and by the year 2050 the difference will be 200 million people in favor of India.
The figure of China’s residents grew at a gradual leisurely rate in the first quarter of the century, reaching roughly over 1.45 billion people by 2025. For the following decade, it is estimated that the records will remain at a plateau. From 2030, a slow regression will take place as the figures will decrease by 0.45 billion for the next 15 years.
In contrast, India will witness a a steady and considerable growth of it’s inhabitants for the 5 decades. The population will spike from 1 billion in the year 2000, to 1.6 billion in the year 2050.
