The given diagram presents the percentage of population in several countries including some age groups from 1960 to 2040 in the coming years.
It is clear that the group which has the highest percentage of population is the group with people from 15-64 years old. Moreover, while the percentage of people who are at the age 0-14 and some at 25-64 experienced a downward trend, the figure for elderly (who are over 65) is predicted to increase significantly.
To commerce, in 1960, around 55% of the population was at the age 15-64, playing the top of all. In contrast, children (from 0 to 14 years old) and elderly (65+) had the lower percentage, with only 30% and around 25%, respectively. From 1990 onwards, there was a gradual decline for the percentage of middle-aged people, similar to the figure for children, while the proportion of people who were over 65 witnessed a rise to 20%.
In the year 2040 in the future, after a fluctuation, the percent of the people between 15 to 64 years old is expected to be 55% and there will be a low-point at only 10% for the statistic for children after a strongly decrease. The percentage of elderly is projected to be a deep growth and hit the same total to middle-aged people.
