Overall, while petroleum and natural gas production increased, coal production declined. Furthermore, petroleum remained the most produced fuel throughout the period.
In 1981, the UK produced 100 tons of petroleum, making it the highest among the three fuels. The production then rose by approximately 30 tons in 1984, reaching 130 tons, before stabilizing for the next three years. However, a sharp decline followed, bringing the figure back to 100 tons in 1991. After that, petroleum production rebounded significantly to around 130 tons, but it later dropped by 10 tons, ending at 120 tons in 2000.Coal production stood at 80 tons in 1981 and declined sharply to around 50 tons by 1987. It then saw a small increase to 60 tons over the next four years before resuming its downward trend, falling to approximately 45 tons by the end of the period.
Meanwhile, natural gas production began at 40 tons and remained relatively stable for the first decade. However, from 1991 onward, it experienced a significant rise, surpassing coal production by 1997 and reaching around 85 tons by 2000.
