Overall, it can be observed that Facebook dominated among other online platforms over time. It is worth mentioning that the use of all websites increased over 3 years.
In 2012, most adults were into using Facebook, with a figure of 67%, which increased to above 70% in 2013, and then rose gradually to 72% in 2015. In contrast, American adults were not keen on using Instagram in 2012, as only 13% of them used it, which increased by 15% in 2015. Moreover, Pinterest was used by 15% of adults in 2012, which rose notably to 31% in 2015.
However, Twitter was used by 16% of young people in America in 2012, which remained approximately stable until 2013, and followed by a steady increase to around 23% in 2014, remained unchanged after one year. Linkedin consisted of 20% of adult users in 2012, which after a gradual increase to around 23% in 2013, experienced a sharp increase to under 30% in 2014, and then dropped to 25% in 2015.
