The graph illustrates the findings of a survey conducted among online adults in the USA, highlighting their usage of different social media platforms between 2012 and 2015.
Overall, there was a marked increase in social media use among adults over the 3-year period, with Facebook’s popularity standing out.
In the USA, online adults have been using various social media platforms such as Facebook, Pinterest, Instagram, LinkedIn, and Twitter. Facebook has consistently been the most popular platform over the given period. In 2012, 67% of online adults used Facebook, and this percentage continued to rise, reaching a peak of 72% in 2015. Pinterest, whose usage soared steadily, became the second most popular platform by 2015, just behind Facebook.
On the other hand, LinkedIn, which was the second most popular website in 2012, saw a gradual rise in users each year until 2014. Afterward, its usage dropped, and it ended up in fourth place. Twitter followed a similar trend, with a gradual increase in users until 2014, when growth stagnated, leaving it in the last position by 2015. Instagram, however, saw consistent growth over the years, eventually securing the third spot in 2015.
