The line graph below provides data about the consumption of three types of fast food (hamburger, fish and chips and pizza) measured in grams each week in the UK within two decades from 1970 to 1990.
Overall, the most popular type of fast food was pizza at the beginning of the period and its consumption saw a reduction until the end of the year. By contrast, other two types showed dramatic increase in the final decade.
In 1970, the pizza was the most common at around 300 grams in UK, before it experienced sharp decline from 300 to just over 200 grams within a decade. After that, it remained stable about 200 grams with no further rise and drop until the end of the year. In contrast, the figure for hamburger started to rise gradually from 10 to just over 100 grams between 1970 and 1985 before experiencing significant growth during the last five years.
Likewise, the fish and chips improved steadily from about 80 to 150 grams during the first 10 years and then it became the most favoured type of fast food at around 500 grams in the final year.
