The line graph presents the amount of money that customers allocated to books, technology, and clothes over a period of years from 2011 to 2020, measured in dollars, in Someland.
Overall, it was clear that the expenditures on books and technology witnessed opposite trends, upward and downward respectively, while sustainability was recorded for clothes. Additionally, the highest figures for books and technology were nearly identical for both categories.
Regarding the figures for books, the yearly expenditures on books stood at 100, which was the lowest point of the graph, in 2011. From 2011 to 2017, the figure for this merchandise underwent a significant increase, surpassed the amount of money spent for technology in 2016, and reached 300 in 2017. Finally, from 2017 onwards, there was a continuous rise, which was always higher than the rest of the categories, and reached a peak at nearly 480 in 2020.
Turning to technology and clothes, the recorded figures were nearly 280 and 120 in turn, which were the top two in 2016. At the beginning of the period, the two merchandises showed contrasting trends; while the figure for clothes witnessed a slight upturn of 50, the opposite was true for technology by 80. In the following years, there was a steady level for clothes; on the other hand, the expenditures on technology experienced a slow fall from 2012 to 2015, continuously dropped significantly, and hit the bottom of 200 in 2020, 50 higher than that of clothes.
