The presented line graph gives information about the amount of vehicle traffic in the Netherlands from 1950 to 2000.
In general, car traffic rates experienced a significant rise, while that for train, bicycle, and other public transports grew marginally.
In 1950, the proportion of traffic caused by cars was 0%. After which, it demonstrated a steady increase by 20% within a decade, which was followed by a steep growth to 100% in 1980. During the remained period of time it continued to rise gradually reaching a high of 140% at the end.
In contrast, the percentage of trains, bicycles and other type of public vehicles which brought about traffic jams stood at 0% in the first year. While that for train and bicycle increased gently to around 10% in 1970, and rose to 20% and 15% respectively in 2000, the latter levelled off at 5% until 1970, then remained just under that of bicycle over the rest of the span.
