The line graph illustrates the generation of fossil fuel energy in Europe over a period 20 years (1981 – 2001).
Overall, it is clear that the generation of petroleum energy is the most important source in Europe from 1981 to 2001. The figure of coal energy experienced a gradual decrease, while there was a significant increase in the natural gas generation.
In 1981, the petroleum was the highest of the source generated, was around 35 trillion unit. In the same year, the figure of the coal and natural gas source were 30 trillion unit and approximately 10 trillion unit respectively. The number of coal generated was took around three times as the natural gas one.
From 1981 to 2001, the energy from the coal increased constantly and reached a peak at 50 trillion unit. By contrast, the figure for coal energy declined gradually from 30 trillion unit on 1981 to approximately 20 trillion unit on 2001. There was a significant increase on the date of natural gas, was about 20 trillion from approximately 10 trillion unit on 1981 to reach over 30 trillion unit on 2001.
