The graph illustrates the average height of men from Denmark, the USA, Great Britain and France from 1775 to 1975.
As can be seen from the diagram, there was an increase in the average height of men among the four countries at the end of the period. In addition, Denmark, which started as the second shortest, ended as the highest among the group.
Focusing on an upward trend, the figure for men from the USA was the highest, at around 167cm in 1775, before showing a noticeable upward trend, rising to 185cm two centuries later. The figure for the UK, meanwhile, stood at about 165cm in 1775 before experiencing small fluctuations, thereby ending the period with a dramatic increase to the same level as the USA (185cm).
Starting at around 160cm in 1775, the figure for average men’s height in Denmark remained the same in 1875 before experiencing a significant rise to over 185cm a century later. Similarly, a same trend was observed for the average height of men from France, which grew steadily to 175cm at the end of the period.
