The line graph presented illustrates the percentage of men and women (aged 18-34) employed in Australia in 1976 and 2011.
Overall, it is clear from the graph that the number of males represented the largest proportion of employment in each of the two years. As they got older, the percentage of women employed became considerably less, while the employment of men increased notably.
In 1976, the percentage of males aged 31 indicated 80%, whereas the males aged 18 represented approximately 56%. However, 2011 witnessed a drammatic decline in the employment compared to previous given period. Specifically, adults (men) aged 33 accounted for only 70%, which is 10% less than in 1976 and 18 year-old people accounted for around 43%, which is also less than previous period.
Turning to the women employment, the line demonstrated the opposite trend. In 1976, females aged 18 represented around 52%, which was the highest trend among women. In addition, their rate decreased as they get older. In 2011 the trend showed almost similar employment rate, only differencing in the interval of 5% to 10%.
