In 1951 all marriages experienced the greatest number of marriages in comparison with remarriages and first marriages. The number of marriages accounted for nearly 450 thousand and just below 300 thousand in term of all marriages and first marriages, respectively. From 1951 the number of all marriages increased gradually and reached to its peak in 1981, which was nearly 525 thousand, and sharply declined to approximately 425 thousand in 2001. In the meantime, the number of remarriages moderately escalated and reached to just above 400 thousand in 1981. It fell to just over 300 thousand at the end of this period. On the other hand, lowest number of first marriages showed in 1951 which constituted 100 thousand and changed minimally over the time period.
Overall, the graph of all marriages and first marriages followed a similar pattern over the time period, whereas remarriages depicted a slight fluctuating trend.
