The line graph illustrates the number of people engaging in 4 varieties of sports in a specific region from 1985 to 2005.
Overall, it is apparent that badminton and basketball had a similar trend, neither of them almost have not experienced any noticeable fluctuation. In contrast, two opposing trends can easily be seen in rugby and tennis.
First, rugby held the highest position at nearly 250 people in 1985 whereas tennis achieved the second position with 100 fewer people than rugby. In the next 10 years, while rugby decreased gradually, a moderate uptrend can be observed in the figure for tennis, and both of their lines intersected at 200 people. In the remaining time, the number of tennis players continued to increase and peaked at around 225 players in 2005. Meanwhile, at the same time, the rugby’s figure declined sharply and fell to its lowest point at 50 people.
Started respectively with 50 players and approximately 75 players in 1985, it witnessed the same tendency in the entire period. It is worth noting that basketball always had more than 25 players when compared with badminton. Finally, two figures ended with almost unchanged numbers, but the most striking change was the equal number of badminton and rugby which originally kept the leading position.
